To the Editor:

I hope all will join me and support Dr Michelle Ku for 106th State Representative on November 5.

Michelle and her family have lived in Newtown for 15 years. In addition to her career in science, she was elected to the Board of Education and served as the Chair; she was then elected to the Legislative Council, and currently serves on the Board of Selectmen.

Michelle is experienced in the legislative process and is committed to bipartisan collaboration and problem solving to address the issues facing Connecticut residents.

Motivated by the events on December 14, 2012, she became involved in gun violence prevention advocacy and community recovery efforts.

She has also volunteered her time to advocate for gun violence prevention; she chaired the CT Legislature’s Task Force on Life Threatening Food Allergies; she was a member of the Governor’s Regional Advisory Team to help students safely return to the classroom after Covid; and she was president of the EdAdvance Board of Directors.

Michelle is smart, she has integrity, and she will take an active role in fighting for Newtown residents. As a member of the majority party in Connecticut, she will give Newtowners a much stronger voice in Hartford.

On a personal note, during my six terms as a member of the Legislative Council when Michelle was a member and chair of the Board of Education and a member of the LC, I found Michelle to be hard working and knowledgeable, not afraid to ask questions, and concise with her answers to questions. She most definitely will be an asset to Newtown as State Representative.
