School Board Special Meeting
School Board Special Meeting
The Board of Education will be meeting Tuesday, October 1, to determine School Start Time Committee membership.
After the success of last yearâs community-based Climate Control Committee, Superintendent of Schools Evan Pitkoff recommended the establishment of a new, community-founded group, this time to address mounting concern regarding school start times.
The committee will study scientific research on adolescent sleep patterns, consider the impact of extracurricular activities, sports, homework, crime, and other issues, and examine the progress of school districts, such as Wilton, that have implemented later start times for high school students.
The October 1 meeting is open to the public. The School Start Time Committee will convene privately at 7 pm, October 13 and the 28. Regularly scheduled board meetings will take place, as usual, during the first and second Tuesday of the month, on October 7 and 14.
