Newcomers Launch New Year
Newcomers Launch New Year
On Thursday, October 2, the Newtown Newcomersâ Club will hold its monthly hospitality coffee followed by its board meeting beginning at 7 pm in the lower level of the Meeting House on Main Street at the flagpole.
Any resident of Newtown who would like to learn more about the programs and activities offered by the Newcomersâ Club is encouraged to attend. It is not a requirement that one be new in town to join the Newtown Newcomersâ Club.
The club held its annual kickoff last week to generate new membership. Despite the weather and other scheduled meetings in town, quite a few women showed up at the Alexandria Room in Town Hall to learn about what the Newcomersâ Club has to offer.
Club members present at the kickoff explained how to get involved in these different activities including book clubs, dining out club, childrenâs playgroups, and Momâs night out. The Newcomersâ Club also offers special programs throughout the year such as the Hayride and Bonfire at Paproskiâs Farm planned for October 4 at 6:30 pm, and a Night of Beauty at Ricciâs Salon.
Members of the new board of the Newcomersâ Club were there to greet people as they came in. Snacks were served and six door prizes were given away.
The Newtown Newcomersâ Club allows potential members to attend up to three activities before joining the club. The club also has a âbuddy systemâ so potential members can attend activities with a current member.
Any resident of Newtown who wishes to find out more about the club is encouraged to attend one of the monthly hospitality coffees or speak with any member. Co-presidents Nancy Obremski can be reached at 364-0597 and Helen Benson can be reached at 426-3383.
