Hospital Auction To Benefit Children’s Special Needs Clinic

DANBURY –– The Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Inc invites the public to attend the tenth annual A Day to Make a Difference –– A Decade of Caring, a fun-filled evening of dining and auctions to benefit Danbury Hospital’s pediatric programs and services on Friday, October 3. This year, the event will take place at the Ridgewood Country Club, 119 Franklin Street.

Proceeds from A Day to Make A Difference –– A Decade of Caring auction benefits the hospital’s Children with Special Health Care Needs Clinic. The clinic is located in the Pediatric Health Center at the Seifert & Ford Family Community Health Center, 70 Main Street.

In existence for more than two decades, the Children with Special Health Care Needs Clinic serves low-income families in the greater Danbury area with handicapped children, from birth to age 18, who have, or are at risk for, chronic physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions (birth defects, autism, physical deformities, etc). The primary funding source for the clinic was recently discontinued.

The event features cocktails and dinner by the bite starting at 6, a silent auction from 6 to 7:30, pediatrician recognition at 7:30, and a live auction beginning at 8. Cost to attend the dinner and auction is $75 per person, and reservations are required. Patron, sponsor, and benefactor sponsorships also are available.

Guests will have a chance to bid on unique and exciting auction items ranging from gift baskets, artwork, and vacation getaways, to Broadway tickets and dinner, precious jewelry and much more.

Auction items are generously donated by local businesses and loyal supporters who are committed to helping Danbury Hospital continue its outstanding achievements in health care and safety for children. There are auction items of interest in virtually every price range and category of goods and services.

Susan Kania, director of the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, is working closely with an enthusiastic volunteer committee to create an evening that is entertaining for all guests as it raises needed funds to support one of Danbury Hospital’s vital pediatric outreach programs.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous support we have received for this event over the last nine years. The committee is making every effort to ensure that this year’s tenth anniversary celebration is the most successful yet. If we all do our part, there is no doubt that we will make a difference in the lives of these children who need our help,” said Ms Kania.

A Day To Make A Difference Committee Chairman Iris Batson said, “The community has embraced this event since its inception. Thanks to the community’s continued support and the wonderful care available for our community’s children through the various programs and services provided by Danbury Hospital and its Pediatric Department, the medical needs of all children will be met.”
