First-Ever Road Race A Success At Fraser-Woods
The crisp late-summer morning of September 14 drew a host of runners to participate in Fraser-Woods Montessori Schoolâs first ever one-mile community race.
Open to the public, the course, certified by the USATF, took place along Peckâs Lane. In the Adult Race, Kevin Grimes placed first with a time of 5:06. The first woman to cross the finish line was Newtown resident Elizabeth Bogdanoff with a time of 7:24. In the childrenâs race, 13-year-old Dayton Horvath of Newtown crossed the finish line first with a time of 7:24. The first girl to finish was 11-year-old Cacique Richardson of New Milford, with a time of 8:11.
Dunkinâ Donuts, the Big Y, and Stop & Shop provided refreshments. Bethel High School Track Coach Yvonne Grimes, a Fraser-Woods parent, organized the race with the assistance of many volunteers, including USATF-certified officials, the Newtown High School Girlsâ Cross Country Team and Coach Marsha Turek, EMT William Romaniello from Carlson Therapy Network, and the parents and staff from Fraser-Woods.
