DANBURY â Danbury Hospital will conduct a Family Health and Safety Fair at the Danbury Fair Mall on Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4. The health fair takes place on the Mallâs lower level from noon to 8 pm both days.
The Family Health and Safety Fair features education on cancer detection and prevention sponsored by the American Cancer Society and The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital. Other health and safety fair participants will be the Danbury Hospital Vascular Laboratory addressing disorders of the veins, pulmonary function testing, sleep disorders awareness, and information regarding respiratory/pulmonary diseases.
Partners in Health, a multicommunity collaborative, will conduct an âoutdoorsâ mall walk at noon on Friday, October 3.
Education and information will be offered about diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, capsule endoscopy and, for the kids, an ambulance will be on-site for inspection courtesy of Danbury Health Systems BSI-Emergency Medical Services.
A free blood pressure screening, cardiac risk factor analysis and, new this year, will be a finger-stick cholesterol screening (a nominal fee will be charged). There also will be obtain information regarding trauma prevention, womenâs health, newborn and pediatric care, breastfeeding and formula feeding, and the Danbury Hospital Doula Program.
The Family Birth Center staff also will be on-site to answer questions about pregnancy and prepregnancy planning, and Danbury Hospital dietitians will offer information regarding good nutrition and healthy eating.
Also participating is AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, AIDS Project of Greater Danbury, Danbury Office of Physician Services, PC (physician offices exhibit), and the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association, Healthy Families Network. Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut will provide information about hospice programs, the Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children, and volunteer opportunities.
Another new participant will be a podiatrist from the Danbury Foot Center who will offer podiatry screenings for children and adults.
