Charity Skating Show For Chernobyl Nuclear Victims

DANBURY –– Olympic figure skating champion Viktor Petrenko will host an all-star cast of Olympic figure skaters in a charity skating show, Victory for Kids, to benefit children who are still being affected by the 1986 nuclear explosion in Chernobyl, Ukraine.

Victory for Kids will be held at the Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday, October 4, at 7 pm.

The show will include Olympic champion Brian Boitano, pair champions Oksana Kazakova and Artur Dmitriev, two-time pairs champion Ekaterina Gordeeva, Ilya Kulik, silver medallist, Evgeni Plushenko, US National champion Timothy Goebel, US National pairs champions Naomi Laug and Peter Tchernyshev, Japanese National champion Fuymi Suguri, world silver medallist Elena Sokolova, Ukrainian National ice dance champions Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov, and the acrobatic team of Vladimir Besedim and Oleskly Polischuk.

The Chernobyl disaster has caused the Ukraine to have one of the highest mortality rates in Europe. All funds from the event will benefit the Children of Chernobyl Relief Fund. 

Tickets are on sale at the Danbury Ice Arena, 794-1704.
