New Milford Savings Bank Changes Name To NewMil Bank
NEW MILFORD â At a special employee meeting Wednesday night, September 20, New Milford Savings Bank unveiled a fresh new look and name. The new name, NewMil Bank, will be effective on October 1 and marks an important new beginning for this community bank, a Connecticut landmark since 1858.
According to Francis J. Wiatr, chairman, president, and CEO, âOur board of directors first addressed the idea of changing the bankâs name in 1998 when a market research study that tested the publicâs image of New Milford Savings Bank indicated that while the bank was perceived as a good, friendly, local institution, our name did not communicate the broad range of up-to-date products and services we offered to both consumers and business.
âWhatâs more, with the vast changes that have occurred in the banking industry, from deregulation to the growth of electronic banking, we have the opportunity to establish relationships with customers located outside of the greater New Milford area.â
NewMil Bank, which has served western Connecticut since 1858, has 14 full service branch offices. They include three in New Milford, as well as branches in New Fairfield, Kent, Morris, New Preston, Brookfield, Norwalk, Sharon, Sherman, Southbury, Bridgewater, and Canaan. A special needs branch is also open at Pomperaug Woods Life Care facility in Southbury.
