Kellogg’s Hardwoods won the Weeknite Slo-Pitch Softball League championship recently and had to put a stop to O’Grady/Miller Construction’s amazing run through the playoffs to do it.

Kellogg’s made it through the winner’s bracket by beating the B-Division All Stars, 11-8, and Tilford Piano Movers, 9-7. In the win over the All Stars, Chris D’Angelo and Brian Kachur each went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and in the win over Tilford, Kachur and Marc Adams had two hits apiece.

O’Grady/Miller Construction’s path to the championship began after a loss to the B-Division All Stars, 9-8. From there, O’Grady beat KB Builders (9-5), the B-Division All Stars (13-2), Jimmy T’s (20-11) and Tilford Piano Movers (17-15) to reach the championship.

In the win over KB, Dave Kingsley went 3-for-4 with a home run while Larry Miller was 3-for-4 with a pair of triples. In the win over the All Stars, Nate Smith had four hits while Tee O’Grady, Kingsley and Carlos had three hits apiece. In the win over Jimmy T’s, Kingsley, Tom Villa, and Carlos had four hits apiece while O’Grady, Miller, Johnny O’Grady, Brian and Dave Marciniak all had three hits apiece.

In the win over Tilford’s, O’Grady, Miller, Johnny O, Mike Kirk and Brian had three hits apiece while Carlos belted a homer.

O’Grady/Miller went into the finals realizing it had not beaten Kellogg’s Hardwoods in six years – and had to do it twice in order to win the league title. O’Grady was able to do it once, 12-8, but Kellogg’s claimed the title with a 10-4 win.

In the opener, Kingsley started things off with a bases-clearing double, which fueled a six-run inning. In the sixth, OMC scored another six runs off hits by Marciniak, O’Grady, Kingsley, Miller and Johnny O.

Kellogg’s put on a late run, scoring five runs in the final two innings, but it wasn’t enough.

In the second game, however, Kellogg’s claimed the title with a 10-4 win. Kellogg’s opened with a six-run inning off hits from George Matern, Scott Terrill, Doug Rose, Corbo, Kachur and D’Angelo. Corbo, Rose, Matern and D’Angelo had three hits apiece and Chris Dennis was walked three times.

For OMC, Carlo had two hits.
