Two Women Thinking Kindly & Acting Boldly
To the Editor:
Thursday, September 18th, while shopping in Caraluzzi's after 4 pm, my two-year-old decided to throw the mother of all tantrums after being put in time out in the beer aisle. It became a mobile tantrum with her screaming louder than ever before while crawling faster than ever before. She cruised around the bend and down the next aisle when a woman came up and asked me if I wanted any help. She watched “Grace” (who wasn't living up to her name at the moment), while I went to get my son who was smooshed into the green cart. When we met up with them, the woman was gently and lovingly saying to my daughter, “I thought we were supposed to stay put in time out.” Let's call her Lady #1.
Later on in the shopping adventure, another woman, Lady #2, came up to me and said, “Excuse me, could I just say... [I was expecting unsolicited parenting advice]... you did such a good job back there staying calm in such a difficult situation, I just wanted to tell you that.” I started crying (as I am now writing this).
I bought you both coffees at the counter in Caraluzzi's under "Lady#1 & Lady#2". Thank you so much for your loving kindness! You make this town the special place it is.
Love,
Carla Barzetti
