DANBURY — A bake sale on Friday, September 26, from 7 am until 11 pm at Danbury Hospital’s Robolitti Conference Center will raise funds to help cover costs for one of the hospital’s own.

John Young, an RN at the hospital for RN at Danbury Hospital for more than 30 years, was recently diagnosed with Amloidosis, a rare bone marrow disorder. His family, friends and coworkers are coming together in support of Mr Young, as well as his wife Beth and their two teenage daughters.

A Bake Sale, Go Fund Me campaign and a Facebook page have been put together to form Team Young and Strong, now with over 650 members. The group was founded by a few of John’s co-workers, including some who live in Newtown.

“John is just an awesome person — an understatement for sure — and we want to help in any way we can and spread the word as much as we can,” said Suzanne Zuckerman of Newtown, a friend and co-worker of Mr Young.

Supporters can be seen around town wearing their Team Young and Strong T shirts, hoodies and bracelets.

As a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Danbury Hospital, Mr Young has impacted many people in the greater Danbury community with his warmth, gentleness, compassion, humor, and celebrated clinical skills.

The hospital is at the corner of Hospital and Locust avenues in Danbury; the conference center is on the fifth floor.
