Virtual Scrapbooking: An Introduction To Facebook
Virtual Scrapbooking: An Introduction To Facebook
WASHINGTON GREEN â Gunn Memorial Library will offer for a free workshop called âVirtual Scrapbooking: An Introduction to Facebook,â from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday October 3.
While traditional scrapbooking remains a hit, the surge in popularity of social networking sites can be considered a virtual form of scrapbooking, where individuals document their daily lives by posting pictures and comments. Through this workshop, participants will learn how to connect with friends and family around the world. There will also be an opportunity to work with a library specialist on one of the libraryâs computers and create or update their own Facebook page.
Seating is limited and registration is requested; call 860-868-7756.
After the workshop visitors will be able to view the exhibition âThe Keepers of History: Scrapbooks and Albumsâ for perspective on how past generations kept their memories. The exhibit includes many scrapbooks featured in Jessica Helfandâs new book, Scrapbooks: An American History, on display next door at the Gunn Museum.
The exhibit and workshop are being sponsored by The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, in collaboration with the Connecticut Humanities Council.
Gunn Memorial Library and Museum are at 5 Wykeham Road, at the intersection of Route 47 and Wykeham Road, on Washington Green. For more information call 860-868-7756 or visit GunnLibrary.org.
