Poetry Session For Young Adults At Library

The Booth Library Creative Writing Group for Young Adults will offer poetry this fall. Poetry lover Liz Arneth, a retired English teacher and Newtown resident, will lead the group with volunteer adult writer assistant Donna Renzulli. All sessions will allow time for writing and sharing poems in progress as well as one-on-one communication between adults and young people.

Ms Arneth has selected “In the Whirlwind of Imagination” as this year’s theme. “My wish for the young people who sign up is that they will be encouraged to ‘catch a ride’ on the carousel in the whirlwind of their imaginations,” said Ms Arneth.

The group will meet from 6 to 8 pm on five Monday evenings, October 19 and 26, and November 2, 9, and 16, with November 23 as a makeup date. The free class is limited to ten students in grades six through eight, with a preference given to Newtown residents and students. Participants are expected to attend all five sessions. For more information, speak to Margaret Brown, young adult librarian. Call 426-4533, or sign up online at chboothlibrary.org.

Creative Writing for Young Adults is an ongoing program at the C.H. Booth Library, funded by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library.
