Verna Gjuresko

Verna (Meckler) Gjuresko, 85, a resident of Weston for more than 60 years, died on September 20 at Norwalk Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stephen Gjuresko.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra V. Shantar of Newtown.

Mrs Gjuresko was born in Bethlehem, Penn., on April 2, 1916, a daughter of the late Ambrose and  Elizabeth (Myers) Meckler. She was a homemaker and an avid organic gardener until her 84th year.

She is also survived by her son, Steven J. Gjuresko of Weston; one sister, Theresa Crevda of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Ambrose Meckler, also of Long Beach, Calif.; one grandson, Jeffrey P. Shantar of Scarborough, Me.; two granddaughters, Kristine E. Shantar of Newtown and Margaret R. Gjuresko of Shawnee, Okla.; and one great-grandson, S. Baxter Clinton of Newtown.

Services and interment were private.

Arrangements were by the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown.
