State Police Pull For

Cancer Research

HARTFORD — State police barracks across the state are pulling together in a tug of war October 13-14 to raise funds for the  Swim Across the Sound.

Each state police barrack will field a tug of war team and invite other members of the community to form teams to compete locally on October 13. The winners from each state police barrack district will advance to compete in the finals October 14 on the grounds of the State Capital.

Lieutenant Governor Jodi Rell will serve as the chairman of the tug of war.

Each team member will pay $100 to enter with all the funds going to support women diagnosed with breast cancer through St Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound programs.

For the first time, the swim is partnering with the tug of war with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation/CT Race for the Cure to serve women with cancer across the state. The swim is scheduled to help women with breast cancer in the southern part of the state while the Coleman Foundation handles the northern part of the state.

For more information about the tug of ward call St Vincent’s Foundation 203-576-5451 or visit the Swim web-site – www.swimsound.org.
