Helping Kids Understand Tragedy And Uncertainty
Helping Kids Understand Tragedy And Uncertainty
DANBURY â All parents eventually face the challenge of comforting children in times of grief and loss. When events occur that we as adults find difficult to understand and accept, how can we extend strong support to our children and adolescents?
Parents will find out how to address these important issues with children at the upcoming workshop âParenting With Insight: How to Help Your Child Understand Tragedy and Uncertainty.â The program, sponsored by The Ridgefield Alcohol and Drug Use Commission takes place Wednesday, October 3, 2001, from 7:30 to 9 pm at the East Ridge Middle School auditorium in Ridgefield.
The October 3 workshop will provide parents with a forum to express concerns, ask questions and receive answers and tools to help bring some comfort and understanding to family discussions about national and private grief and loss. Participants will learn how to help promote healing and prepare children for a resilient response to loss.
The âParenting With Insight: How to Help Your Child Understand Tragedy and Uncertaintyâ workshop is free and open to the community.
