The speaker will be Dr Glenn Rich, an endocrinologist, and Dr Lisa Webb, a physiatrist-neurologist and medical director of Bridgeport Hospitalâs Rehabilitation Unit. They will discuss the causes and treatment of osteoporosis, as well as prevention of the disease.
Osteoporosis is a slow thinning of the bones. As people age, their bones can become weak and break, even without a fall. This happens mostly in women during and after menopause.
There are no early signs of osteoporosis that can be felt, but pain and broken bones occur when it becomes sever. The back and hip bones are the most common areas affected. Many women are never able to fully walk again after their injury.
