SOUTHBURY — On October 6, at 9 am, the Audubon Center at Bent of the River will be offering a “Birds, Leaves and Tracks, a Nature Walk.”

Participate in a ramble through the woods and fields at the center. The foliage should be nearing its peak; birds are still migrating, and mammals are active in feeding to get ready for the winter.

Then on Wednesday, October 10, at 9 am, join the center staff for a “Fall Foliage Walk” to a scenic overlook. Fall is an enjoyable time to walk in the woodland. The air is crisp and the leaves create a colorful mosaic carpet on the ground. Things to look for on the walk are animals gathering food for the colder months ahead and long skeins of geese flying south.

Both walks are free to the public and meet at the visitor parking lot at 185 East Flat Hill Road. Wear sturdy shoes and bring binoculars, if desired

The trails of the center are open to visitors every day, dawn to dusk. For additional information call 264-5098, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
