Examining Violence And The Media

Newtown Youth Services and the Newtown Prevention Council are pleased to offer “Violence and the Media: The Tie That Binds.” Dorothy Singer of Yale University will present the program. Dr Singer is co-director of the Yale University Family Television Research and Consultation Center.

The tragic events of recent weeks have posed difficulties for families on just how to discuss this news with our children. Parents are concerned with the media blitz surrounding this and other new items. What messages are being received? Just how much viewing do you allow or do you screen it from them entirely?

If you are concerned about violence and its effect on our children this program promises to answer some of those questions. This presentation will be on Thursday, October 18, at 7 pm, in the Newtown High School Lecture Hall. There is no charge but registration is required.
