Liz Bishop of Newtown, a graduate of St. Joseph’s of Trumbull, already is seeing time in goal with the Ithaca College women’s soccer team. Recently, she shared a shutout with senior goalkeeper Lindy West in the Bombers’ 1-0 win over Oswego. Bishop made six saves in net, playing all of the second half and overtime.

John Buonanno of Newtown, a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School, is back in the secondary for the Marietta College football team. Buonanno, a senior, sat out last season due to injury after lettering as a junior. In two years, Buonanno played in 13 games with eight tackles. He pulled down his first collegiate interception on October 18, 1997, against Hiram College.
