Camera Clubâs New Season Has Begun
On September 21, the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club of Newtown had its first meeting for the 2000-01 season. The guest speaker was Paul Hanson, a member of Castle Craig Camera Club in Meriden.
Mr Hanson presented a slide program entitled âKaleidoscope,â which contained 160 of his award-winning slides, many of them nature images consisting mostly of birds and flowers. Mr Hanson also judged the clubâs first print competition of the season. First place went to Darwin Bacchiocchi for âSunset.â Second place also went to Mr Bacchiocchi, third went to new member Anne Martin, and honorable mentions went to Jim Bird and Jim Parsons.
Mrs Martin also won the clubâs 50-50 raffle and Sharon Miller won a free eight-by-ten enlargement compliments of Ritz Camera in Newtown. Jim Parsons and Anne Martin both joined the club at the September meeting.
The clubâs next meeting will be on October 19, and the assigned subject for members is ânatureâ slides. Guest speaker and judge will be Richard Maggs, a past member of Candlewood Camera Club in Danbury.
