Newtown’s NewArts is scheduling auditions for a holiday production of A Christmas Carol.

Auditions will be conducted October 1-3, although the Sunday, October 3, appointments were already full when the website was checked Tuesday, September 21.

Late afternoon and evening auditions were still available for Friday, October 1; and late morning through late afternoon appointments were available for Saturday, October 2.

The auditions will be conducted at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. Auditions will be socially distanced, and everyone must wear a mask. Appointments are required.

Director Michael Unger is seeking a cast of all ages and levels of experience for the full production, scheduled to open Saturday, December 11, at Edmond Town Hall.

Unger is also the producing artistic director of NewArts.

Associate Director for the holiday production is Brett Boles. Choreography supervision will be under Jennifer Paulson Lee, who will be assisted by Associate Choreography Supervisor Erin Loucks. Music Director is Maryrose Kristopik.

Those planning to audition should prepare an a capella song of one minute of less. There are few solos in the production, so the auditions will be to place performers within vocal groups.

Those auditioning should also prepare a side to perform at the audition. Scenes to select from are available online at 1214foundation.org/newarts.

Auditions can also be scheduled through the above link. Each appointment is for a 10-minute block.

Rehearsals are scheduled to start November 8 in the evenings and on weekends at Edmond Town Hall. Younger cast members will be released early most evenings.

There are no rehearsals November 11, 15, 22, 25-26 and 29, and December: 5

Performances will be live at Edmond Town Hall on Saturdays, December 11 and 18, at 2 and 7 pm, Sunday, December 12, at 2 and 7 pm; Thursday, December 16, at 7 pm; and Sunday, December 19, at 2 pm.

Audience members will be required to wear masks. Ticket details and other information will be announced closer to the production dates.

A cast of all ages and levels of experience is being crafted for the 2021 holiday production by NewArts. Appointments are still available for October 1-2. —NewArts graphic
