Through September 29, Newtown Savings Bank is conducting a Hunger Action Month Food Drive at its two Newtown locations.

All are invited to visit the main branch at 39 Main Street or the office within Sand Hill Plaza, at 228 South Main Street, with donations for the Salvation Army Food Pantry at the Department of Social Services.

Current needs for the pantry include soups, canned fruits and vegetables, rice, pasta, tomato products, school snacks, juice boxes, cleaning supplies, personal products, dog and cat food, and peanut butter and jelly.

Those donating to the food pantry are asked to check expiration dates before dropping anything off at the bank. Expired items cannot be given to the food pantry.
