The Avielle Foundation — a nonprofit seeking to prevent violence and build empathy by facilitating brain health research, education and policy, and by fostering community engagement, education, and responsibility— has scheduled a launch for its Spark Program, to take place on Saturday, October 3.

The Newtown community is invited to the event, which will begin at 4 pm and will be held at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street. The program will feature a screening of Disney- Pixar’s animated movie Inside Out.

Thanks to Ingersoll Motors of Danbury the screening of the movie will be free, according to The Avielle Foundation. In addition, Ferris Acres Creamery will supply free ice cream for all attendees.

A short presentation overviewing the Spark Program and its relationship to the subject matter of the film will be given during the traditional preview period, and will be offered by select Spark Team Members dressed as the animated characters in the film.

Released in June, Inside Out tells the story of what happens inside the mind of a young girl who is uprooted from her Midwest life and moves with her parents to San Francisco. The animated adventure-comedy shows how the brain works to control emotions. The film is rated PG, and has a running time of 94 minutes. 

According to the foundation, the film’s basis will be used to help set the table for a fun and comfortable conversation in the community around the idea of emotional intelligence and brain health, and the efforts of The Avielle Foundation and the Spark Program’s to develop a healthier, better connected and safer community and world.

The Spark Program will also be discussed in the lobby of Edmond Town Hall after the movie is shown.
