Writing Fun At The Library
Writing Fun
At The Library
Following a successful six-week Summer Writing Camp, C.H. Booth Library is offering a continuing series of creative writing sessions, starting with Mythology in October. Throughout the year, young adults in grade 6 and up will have the opportunity to learn to write in different genres.
Author and educator Joan Verniero will return to lead the first session, âMythology,â her favorite genre. Mrs Verniero teaches creative writing at Masuk High School in Monroe, and is also the author of three books of mythology for âkids of all ages.â She will be joined by some of the experienced adult volunteers from the summer program including Philip Kotch and Mary Maki.
Additional information about Mrs Verniero is available at her website, www.JVStory.com.
Writers will meet on alternate Mondays, for a total of five sessions. All sessions will allow time for the writing, sharing and one-on-one communication between adults and young people, and writers will be encouraged to work on their myths at home between sessions. This format is similar to that of the summer program enjoyed by 20 participants.Â
âWriting Mythsâ will take place from 6 to 8 pm on the following Mondays: October 18, November 1, 15 and 29, and December 13. Participants are expected to attend all five sessions. There is no fee.
Registration can be done in person at the libraryâs main desk (25 Main Street) or by calling 426-4533. Advance registration is required and space is on a first-come basis.
