BROOKFIELD â Ability Beyond Disability announced that on October 17 it will hold its debut walkathon, Walk Beyond Disability. The event is expected to bring out more than 2,000 walkers from the tri-state area that are committed to raising funds to support programs and services that help people with disabilities.
Local companies, service groups, and community members have all signed on to help support Walk Beyond Disability. Major sponsors for the walk are Boehringer Ingelheim, Cendant Mobility, GE, Pepsi Bottling Group, and WLAD.
Walk registration opens at 9 am at Rogers Park in Danbury and will follow with opening remarks from Thomas H. Fanning, president and CEO of Ability Beyond Disability, as well as other community supporters. The walk begins at 10. There is no registration fee or a minimum fundraising amount required, and walkers can register on the day of the event. Participants are encouraged to collect funds from their family, friends and co-workers in advance and hand contributions in at the time of registration.
