Victorian Lady Returns To Library
Victorian Lady Returns To Library
Kandie Carle, widely known as the Victorian Lady, will be appearing at the C.H. Booth Library on October 7, at 7 pm, to both entertain and educate with her one woman show on fashion and culture of the Edwardian age.
The presentation is not a fashion show, though the emphasis is certainly on clothing. Ms Carle will be dressing in layer upon layer of clothing and as each piece is added she explains its use, how it was worn, as well as where and when it was appropriate. Included are interesting accessories and accouterment. Throughout the presentation she shares insights into lifestyle, manners, etiquette, and customs of men, women, and children.
Kandie Carle has worked in theater for more than 25 years as an actress, and her theatrical training makes this historically accurate show come alive. She has assembled a vast collection of authentic Victorian and Edwardian clothing dating from the mid-19th to the turn of the 20th Century. Also an accomplished seamstress, she makes pieces from authentic designs and patterns of the Civil War, Victorian, and Edwardian periods. The program is free and all are invited to attend. Call the library at 426-4533 to reserve a place. Refreshments will be served.
