Reed Student Among Honorees At Prestigious Piano Auditions
Felicia Pan, a student at Reed Intermediate School, was among nine recipients who recently received the Sonatina medal, an International Honor Medal, for her National Piano Playing Auditions in Danbury last spring, sponsored by the American College of Musicians.
All nine recipients are students at Felicia Feng Zhangâs Feliciaâs Professional Piano Studio in Southbury.
Felicia also received membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the teachersâ division of the American College of Musicians.
Participants in the National Piano Playing Auditions aim to receive Pledge, Local, District, Hobbyist, Duet, Ensemble, State, National, or International honors.
The American College of Musicians evaluate the studentsâ performances based upon their presentation of Baroque, classic, romantic and modern works. Each student performs in the presence of a professional adjudicator chosen by the national organization who examines his or her repertoire.
Each year, throughout the United States and abroad, more than 100,000 piano playing pupils participate in the annual National Piano-Playing Auditions. Auditions are held in some 88 music centers worldwide.
