Louise Burr

Louise (Bartram) Burr, 96, of Monroe, died on September 16 at Ashlar of Newtown.

Born in Newtown on May 7, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Sanford Bartram and Mary (Burke) Bartram.

Predeceased by her husband Victor, a son, George B. Burr, and daughter, Diana Lea Burr, she is survived by her son, Donald S. Burr and his wife Joyce of Monroe; her daughter-in-law, Florence Burr of Woodbury; a sister, Laura Babis and her husband Joseph of Stratford; eight grandchildren, Deborah Pothier, Noreen McIlhoney and her husband James, Karl Burr and his wife Lisa, all of Monroe, James Burr of Middletown, Kenneth Burr of Morris, Richard Burr of Woodbury, Bethann Burr of Watertown, Kathleen Lita and her husband William of Middlebury; 11 great-grandchildren, William Burr, Christina and Nicola Pothier, Jamie and Megan McIlhoney, Justin and James Lita, Cassandra, Alexander and Zakary Burr, Edward Burr and Alana Burr; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Burr came to Monroe in 1928 and had been a resident for more than 75 years. She worked as a cook in Monroe Elementary School for 20 years and also at Pineview Convalescent Home in Monroe for ten years. Mrs Burr was a member of Harmony Grange #92, the Monroe Historical Society, Monroe Senior Citizens, and Lady Martha #103 Order of the Eastern Star for more than 70 years.

Funeral services were held on September 21 in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street, (Route 25) Monroe, with burial following at Cutlers Farm Cemetery, Monroe.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Order of the Eastern Star or the Monroe Historical Society, through the funeral home office.
