Lions Mustang Raffle Drawing Is Oct. 16

The annual Newtown Lions Club Mustang Raffle is in its final countdown. The drawing will be held on October 16 at 1 pm at Newtown Middle School.

Although time is running out, raffle tickets can still be purchased at Amaral Motors, the Booth Library, Newtown Drug Center, Dodgingtown Garage, Newtown Car Wash, Yankee Discount Wine & Liquors, and the Newtown General Store. They are also available at the office of optometrist Dr Wong (LensCrafters) in the Danbury Mall or from any Lions Club member.

This year’s car is a vintage 1965 convertible. The car is red with a white top and features automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, and a 289 CID V8 engine.

The proceeds of the raffle will benefit a wide range of community, state, and national projects and charities with a special focus on blindness research, juvenile diabetes, drug awareness programs, and assistance to the underprivileged. Last year’s raffle proceeds were used for the benefit of community projects and programs including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Lions’ Low Vision Center, American Diabetes, the American Red Cross, Fidelco, School in a Box, and many others. The Lions also contributed to national and regional projects including diabetes awareness, the Connecticut Lions’ Disaster Fund and the Lions Club International Fund.
