Help From Neighbors
To the Editor:
On Friday, September 17, after dusk, my car decided to break down on a dangerous curve along Route 302. The car simply stalled, as I was about to turn left, and would not restart. Within minutes, three drivers stopped, and two neighbors came from their home â all to lend a hand in getting my vehicle (and me) safely out of harmâs way.
In particular, I would like to say thank you to the young man named Dustin, who was so kind to park his pickup, and help me by pushing my vehicle across traffic safely to a side street. He waited until a police cruiser came by (called in by a passerby), and a Newtown officer named Scott was extremely kind, contacting AAA for me as I had trouble getting through, and directing traffic safely by.
We hear a lot about small-town values, and friendliness, too â but sometimes that rings hollow. Not this night. I deeply appreciate the kindness that came my way. Thank you, to my Newtown neighbors.
