To the Editor:

The Town & Country Garden Club, the 57-year-old club which, along with a history of community involvement and environmental protection, designs, plants and maintains three of the town’s traffic islands, held a fundraiser at the Barnwood Grill on August 25.

Members of the club brought friends and family to enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner in the beautiful setting and peaceful environment of the Barnwood. An added value was the friendly service by an experienced waitstaff who were pleasant, efficient, and helpful.

We want to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Dinard, for his generosity, as well as to his staff for making the day not only a success for the club but a pleasant and safe dining experience for everyone who participated.

The restaurant’s décor is rustic and sophisticated at the same time and the ambiance quickly makes you settle in comfortably and want to stay — probably longer than you should.

If you haven’t been to the Barnwood Grill at 6 Queen Street, Newtown, you have missed an exceptional dining experience, and once you go, it’s guaranteed you’ll go back.
