Honored To Be Nominated
Honored To Be Nominated
To the Editor:
I am pleased and honored to accept the nomination from the Newtown Democratic Town Committee as a candidate for the Newtown Board of Assessment Appeals.
I was born and raised in Newtown and graduated from Newtown High School. For many years, I have been actively involved in Newtownâs affairs. Since 1998, I have served as clerk for the Borough of Newtown Zoning Board of Appeals and Zoning Commission. In addition, I have been on the board of the Newtown Village Cemetery Association since 1997, initially serving as secretary and now as president since 2004. Since 2009, I have been a member of the Newtown Parks and Recreation Commission.
Aside from my public service, I also have extensive professional experience with real estate and the legal profession, having worked as a paralegal for a number of well-established and respected private practice law firms and corporations. I believe the combination of my personal and professional experience uniquely qualifies me for this position.
I pledge to serve on the Board of Assessment Appeals with the same diligence, hard work, integrity, and professionalism that have guided my personal and professional life. I will do my utmost to be responsive, fair, and reasonable to all the people of Newtown â whether you have lived in town for many years or you have just joined our community. I understand that serving on the Board of Assessment Appeals takes more of a commitment than just attending board meetings â it involves working with all members of the community and understanding the history of Newtownâs real estate development and growth.
I respectfully seek your support on November 8 and look forward to the opportunity of serving Newtown on the Board of Assessment Appeals.
Sincerely yours,
Maureen Crick Owen
