DUI Incident
At about 7:05 pm on September 17, police received a report that a one-vehicle accident had occurred near 95 Boggs Hill Road, so they went to that area to investigate.
Police said they later determined that motorist Leo Schwertley, 44, of 24 Equestrian Ridge Road, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima sedan, had struck a utility pole and a stone wall alongside the road, after which Schwertley drove away from the scene of the accident.
Police said that at about 7:10 pm, they spotted Schwertley driving the damaged Nissan on Hattertown Road, so they stopped him to investigate.
Schwertley was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, driving an unregistered vehicle, and with making a restricted turn, police said. Schwertley was not injured in the accident, police said.
After processing, Schwertley was released on $100 bail for an October 4 court appearance, police said.
