Evading Responsibility

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 7:40 pm on September 21 in which one of the two motorists left the scene of the crash, thus evading responsibility.

Police said a Sandy Hook woman, who was driving an unspecified vehicle, stopped for a red traffic signal on eastbound Church Hill Road at its intersection with Exit 10 of Interstate 84, after which an unknown young white adult male, who was driving a white Toyota SUV, stopped behind the woman.

The Toyota then suddenly drove into the rear end of the woman’s vehicle, after which the Toyota left the scene and entered eastbound I-84, police said. The Toyota had Connecticut marker plates that contained the numeral “6” and the letter “N,” police said. The vehicle likely has front-end damage.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer Robert Haas at the police station at 203-426-5841.
