Danbury Lady Whalers Seek Support
On Saturday, October 29, The Danbury Whalers, a minor league hockey team, will host a night to benefit the Danbury Lady Whalers girlsâ ice hockey team. The Danbury Whalers will play against the Cape Cod Bluefins at 7:35 pm.
The Danbury Lady Whalers were formed in the fall of 2010 starting with the U19 team. Since the U19 team was so successful last season, the team has expanded for the 2011-2012 season by adding a U14 squad. The Lady Whalers play in the Connecticut Girls Hockey League.
There will be fun for the entire family at this event including a chuck-a-puck event, 50/50 raffle, and the auctioning of Whaler items. Tickets are $13 for adults, and $10 for children.
Part of the proceeds from this night will help the Lady Whalers go the Polar Bear Tournament in December. The Polar Bear Tournament takes place in Connecticut, and attracts girlsâ ice hockey teams from all parts of the United States and Canada.
The Danbury Ice Arena is located at One Independence Way in Danbury. Tickets may be obtained by calling Nicole Barksdale at 203-231-5220 or email her at flyersgurl04@sbcglobal.net.
