The Pretzel Fundraiser
The Pretzel Fundraiser
To the Editor:
The Knights of Columbus Council #185 in Newtown would like to thank all those who purchased hot pretzels during the Labor Day parade. This fundraiser was thrown together at the last minute to raise money for Newtowners affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Through your generous donations we were able to help a college freshman from Newtown forced to evacuate before classes even began and a former Newtown family who recently relocated south and also were forced to evacuate.
Your support will certainly help these folks as they begin the long process of rebuilding their lives. We hope to see everyone at our first Oktoberfest on the grounds of St Rose Church, October 9, 1:30 to 7 pm. We kickoff with a vintage baseball game featuring the Newtown Sandyhooks. Live German music, food, pony rides, pumpkin decorating, barrel races, and a beer garden are just some of the attractions. Bring the family and help us start a new tradition.
