Holistic Health Series At WestConn
DANBURY â Holistic health practitioners from the greater Danbury area will offer fresh perspectives on strategies to integrate nontraditional and traditional health care practices in a new series of programs at Western Connecticut state University beginning in October.
The 2005-06 series, conducted by WestConnâs Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS) and the Danbury branch of the Connecticut Holistic Health Association (CHHA), will begin on Wednesday, October 5, with a panel discussion of strategies for successful stress management.
Speakers will include Michael Basso, state CHHA director; Dr Eugene Buccini, professor of management and former vice president for academic affairs at WestConn; Irene Mardal, director of the Danbury CHHA branch and owner of Take Time Relaxation Center in Bethel; and Judith Dreyer, adjunct professor of health promotion and exercise sciences (HPX) and owner of Health Food Junction in Canton.
The facilitator for the program will be Ellen Kratka of Sacred Spiral Services in Brookfield, a holistic wellness consultant.
The series will continue on Thursday, November 17, with a presentation on âPets and Healthâ by Deana LoGiudice, a Ridgefield massage therapist and energy therapy master instructor. New Milford hypnotherapist Sharona Fein will lead a workshop about attitude changes that can yield financial wealth on Wednesday, February 22.
Other programs scheduled next year include a networking meeting on Thursday, March 23; âThe Pursuit of Happinessâ on Tuesday, April 25; an exploration of the music health connection in belly dancing on Thursday, May 18; and âPain Managementâ on Monday, June 12.
All programs will begin at 7 pm in Alumni Hall on the WestConn Midtown campus, 181 White Street. Each program will be preceded at 6:30 pm by a period for networking, socializing and light refreshments. Admission will be $10 for the general public, $5 for CHHA members, and $1 for senior citizens. WestConn faculty and staff and all students with valid identification will be admitted free.
