September 24 – The 7th annual Dog Days of Oxford, a dog fair for the entire family (including Fido), will be held Saturday, September 24, from 10 am to 4 pm, at Quaker Farms School on Great Oak Road in Oxford. The gate will open at 9 am; coffee and pastries will be available. There will be dog contests and a special appearance by Scott Haney of Channel 3 news. North Shore Animal League will also be on hand with dogs and cats looking for new homes. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children over 3. Call 262-1350 for further information.

Sunday, September 25 – St. Peter’s Church in Cheshire will hold its 31st annual Charity Horse Show on Sunday, September 25, at the Old Bethany Airport on Route 63 in Bethany. More than 150 competitors from all across the region will vie for 44 different division championships. There will be hunters, jumpers, Morgans, Arabians, Road Hacks and Carriage Driving horses. Two rins will be operating all day long, rain or shine, starting at 8 am. Admission is $3, with children under 10 free. Call 203-272-0142 for further information.

The 2005 event will feature clinics presented by Clinton Anderson, George Morris, Charmayne James, Brian Dygert, Doug Leasor, Terri Gallo, Julie Goodnight, Cindy Morehead and more. More than 400 of the nation’s finest equine-related retailers and manufacturers will be on hand.
