Second Annual Pumpkin Walk Sept. 24 At The Middle School
Second Annual Pumpkin Walk
Sept. 24 At The Middle School
Newtown Parks & Recreation and the Newtown Health & Safety Fair are sponsoring the second annual Pumpkin Walk on Saturday, September 24, at the middle school on Queen Street.
The easy, noncompetitive walk begins at the school, goes around the Grand Place loop and back.
Registration closes at 11:30 am. The walk begins at noon.
Preregistration is encouraged. Preregistration at Parks & Rec is $5 for adults and $1 for children 16 and under. On the day of the event, registration is $6 for adults and $2 for children. Proceeds will benefit The Newtown Fund.
All registrants will receive goodie bags and are invited to postwalk refreshments.
The Pumpkin Walk is a yearly event held to benefit a charity and to promote good health for all through walking. The Newtown Fund is a nonprofit organization operated entirely by volunteers and funded through donations. The fund gives money to the townâs social services director to provide emergency assistance to Newtown residents; a perpetual fund for displaced homemakers; and an annual holiday basket program that provides food and gifts for needy local families.
