Light The Night Walk Saturday

At WestConn Westside Campus

DANBURY — Several teams from Newtown will walk in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night walk scheduled for 6 pm on Saturday, September 24, at the O’Neill Center on WestConn’s Westside campus.

The latest team to be formed, by Shannon Solheim, is “What’s Important Now!” The team was named memory of Shannon’s friend and classmate at Newtown High School, Greg Chion, who died five years ago in October at the age of 17 from complications from leukemia. There is also another team walking in Greg’s memory called Greg’s Group.

Christina Ercole, a Newtown High School student and leukemia survivor, has organized her field hockey team to walk.

All of Newtown’s banners as well as those for Gloria’s Team in Brookfield were printed by A Sign Depot on South Main Street.

The casual one-mile walk is a family friendly event. The food will be provided by Madison’s Restaurant of Shelton and water will be provided by Poland Springs and Cadbury-Schwepps. There will be raffles for “Bob’s Bucks” from Bob’s Discount Furniture and for a Morning Glory Longaberger basket.

To join in the walk register online at www.lightthenight.org/fct or call the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 203-967-8326.
