GOP Slates Grand Opening

For Campaign HQ

The Newtown Republican Town Committee invites the public to the grand opening of the Republican Campaign Headquarters located at 33 Main Street on Wednesday, September 28, from 5:30 to 8 pm. Candidates for the Board of Selectman, Town Clerk, Legislative Council, and the rest of Newtown’s Republican team will be on hand to welcome visitors and to field questions. State Senator John McKinney and State Representatives Julia Wasserman and DebraLee Hovey have also been invited.

“This will be an opportunity for all Newtown residents to meet informally with the candidates early in the 2005 campaign,” said campaign manager Jim Bernardi. “Refreshments including wine, cheese and desserts will be served.”

Candidates for Legislative council are Barbara Bloom, Joseph Borst, David Brown, Jeff Capeci, Joseph DiCandido, Stacie Doyle, Mike Iassogna, Pat Llodra, Richard Recht, and Will Rodgers. Joseph Kearney, John Kortze and Harrison Waterbury are all running for the Board of Finance.

Filling out the slate are Elaine McClure, Board of Education; Kathy Madzula and Sandra Motyka, Board of Town Hall Managers; Dennis Bloom and Robert Mulholland, Planning & Zoning Alternates; Barbara O’Connor, Zoning Board of Appeals; Tim Cronin and Laurie Wrabel, ZBA Alternates; Marianne Brown, Board of Assessment Appeals; Planning & Zoning Commissioner Barbara Jane Brymer and Police Commissioner Carol Mattegat.
