Gloria Mistretta

Former First Grade Teacher and Choral Member

Gloria (DeAngelo) Mistretta, 82, of 823 Main Street South, Woodbury, died September 13 at the River Glen Health Center, Southbury.

She is survived by three daughters, Joanne Wilson of Newtown, Diane Mistretta of New Jersey, and Gloria Weatherbee of Oregon; a brother, Louis DeAngelo of New York; three grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

Mrs Mistretta was born November 16, 1922 in Vineland, N.J., daughter of Thomas and Gilda DeAngelo. She received her bachelor’s degree from Keene College, Union, N.J. Formerly of South Carolina, Mrs Mistretta taught first grade, for 11 years at the Ridgeville Elementary School in Ridgeville, S.C. and was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s Choral Group. Locally, she enjoyed trips to the casinos with the senior centers.

Funeral services were held September 15 at the Southbury Funeral Home. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mt Pleasant, N.Y.
