To the Editor:

I am writing to endorse Ben Ruben for Legislative Council District 3. I met Ben, his wife, and son over a year ago, by chance, at Dickinson Park with my family. Our families immediately became close, spending many summer days and weekends together. Our kids now go to school alongside each other, and we look forward to many more milestones together in Newtown as our families grow.

I was born and raised in Newtown, spending my college career at the University of Connecticut, always knowing I would return to Newtown to raise a family of my own. I strongly believe Ben can bring a positive, successful perspective to this amazing community we live in with his experiences outside of Newtown, as well as his interest in being involved soon after moving here.

Since knowing Ben, I have learned his concentration in making Newtown great for not only lifetime residents, like me, but generations to come through financial responsibility will make him an excellent candidate for Legislative Council. His plans to grow sensible commercial development and a thriving Fairfield Hills campus make Newtown even more appealing than it already is! I encourage all voters to consider Ben Ruben, and if, by chance, you meet him don’t hesitate to say hello, learn more about his plans and become a friend!
