Toddy Hill: Too Dangerous For Bicycles?
To the Editor:
I implore the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club to seriously reconsider traversing Toddy Hill Road in Sandy Hook. This is a dangerous road frequented by huge 18-wheelers, erratic drivers, and unconscionable speeders. Whenever I see a jogger or bicyclist on this street, I shudder and hope that he/she will survive. No one should walk, jog, or bicycle on Toddy Hill Road. I don’t see how a motorist can safely provide three feet for a bicycle without trespassing into the oncoming traffic. The lanes are tight as it is—especially with the potholes, and the “S” curves near Button Shop Road are treacherous.
Bicyclists, joggers, and walkers are entitled to their safety, but Toddy Hill Road doesn't provide that protection.
