'Religion & Politics': A Conversation With Clergy & Religious Leaders
âReligion & Politicsâ: A Conversation With Clergy & Religious Leaders
Many of us have been taught that the two things we are not supposed to talk about in polite company are religion and politics. And yet people of faith, as well as those of no particular faith, are wrestling with questions of whether and how our values and beliefs inform and impact our political life and participation.
Newtown Clergy Association invites the community to join them for âCan We Talk? Discussing Religion and Politics with One Another,â a conversation with clergy and religious leaders from Newtown faith communities, to take place Sunday, September 30. The program will begin at 7 pm and will be at Newtown Congregational Church.
Among the questions organizers are planning to explore are: What do various religious traditions teach about the relationship between the church and state? How do we discern between competing values as we seek to make decisions about our political, economic, and community life? and Can we talk about things that we are passionate about without demeaning those who disagree with us?
All are invited.
Those interested in offering input prior to this event or who may have questions are invited to call the office of Newtown Congregational Church, 203-426-9024. The program will be in NCCâs Great Room, the buildingâs upper meeting room.
