Jill B. Mossbarger

Jill B. Mossbarger, 46, of Sandy Hook, died September 19, due to complications from cancer. She was born February 18, 1966, in Passaic, N.J., to Lynne Feightner Bonaroti and Michael Bonaroti, who both survive her.

Ms Mossbarger grew up in West Chester, Penn., graduating from West Chester East High School before attending the University of Delaware. Having earned a BS degree in education, she taught middle school math for six years before making the decision to stay home and raise her family. It was also at the University of Delaware where she met her husband of 22 years, Michael R. Mossbarger, who also survives her.

While focused on raising her three children, she moved to Chicago, Jacksonville, back to West Chester, to Cleveland, and finally Newtown. She spent the last six years living in Newtown and was an active leader of the PTSAs and supporter of other programs at the intermediate, middle, and high schools.

Her love for supporting and assisting in the schools was long one of her greatest assets, regardless of which town she lived in. Additionally, she was a frequent team manager of her children’s sports teams, which brought her great joy.

In addition to her husband and parents, her sons Michael and Matthew, and her daughter Katie survive Ms Mossbarger.

In addition to the family members above, she is survived by her sisters and their husbands, Lee Ann and Dave Evans and Amy and Stan Timson; as well as three nephews and three nieces.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, September 21, from 5 to 8 pm, as well as from 9 to 10:15 am, Saturday, September 22. A service will be celebrated at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road, Bethel, Saturday, September 22, at 11 am. Interment will take place Monday morning, September 24, at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery in West Chester, Penn.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
