Boys’ Cross Country Results

Newtown High School’s boys’ cross country team defeated Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport and Bethel each by 15-40 scores, and fell 26-29 to New Fairfield in the season-opening meet at Bethel on September 11.

Newtown’s Jake Feinstein was the top overall finisher, coming across the finish line in a time of 17:09. Newtown’s Paul Mangiafico was fourth in 17:42, and teammate Christopher Gamble placed fifth in 17:52. Rob Russo was eighth in 18:50,  Nate Steinebrey came in 12th in 19:13, Tom Floros was 13th in 19:19, Joey Whelan was 14th in 19:26, Grandon Smith placed 15th in 19:33, Ethan Burg placed 17th in 19:45, Jason Ferrari was 18th in 19:48, and Kyle Mangold placed 19th in 19:50.

The boys’ and girls’ squads had their meets washed out by rain this past Tuesday; the competitions, with Stratford, Immaculate of Danbury, and Masuk of Monroe were to be made up on Wednesday (after The Bee sports section went to press).
