Trumbull Community Joining For Pumpkin Classic

TRUMBULL — The Great Pumpkin Classic is a premier four-mile race that features a Kid’s Fun Run, a two-mile Health Walk, plus lots of food, fun and excitement.

Proceeds benefit the Trumbull High School Scholarship Fund and the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce Community Grant Fund, which is used to support town activities.

Trumbull High School’s Chamber Singers, under the direction of Anne Tornillo, will send runners on their way at the Great Pumpkin Classic Road Race October 21 at Trumbull High. The 29 singers, which includes sophomore, junior, and senior students, will perform “The Star Spangled Banner” at the start of the four-mile race.

The annual road race is co-sponsored by the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, and the Trumbull High School Scholarship Fund. Each year the race draws 600–700 runners, walkers, and youngsters.

In the past 15 years more than $100,000 has been raised for Trumbull High School scholarships.

Trumbull Chamber past chairman and event organizer Marilyn Greenberg said that sponsors, runners, and volunteers are needed. Interested persons may contact her at 452-8390 for further information

Race director is Marty Schaivone of M.S. Running Productions LLC.
