'Philadelphia Story' Casting Call At TheatreWorks New Milford
âPhiladelphia Storyâ Casting Call At TheatreWorks New Milford
NEW MILFORD â TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking seven men and four women ages 10 to 60-plus for its upcoming production of the classic romantic comedy The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry.
This Broadway hit, written for Katharine Hepburn, joins socialite Tracy Lord as she prepares to marry for the second time. Plans go awry as the reporter covering her wedding and her first husband turn up for the pre-nuptial party, throwing everyoneâs emotions into disarray. Barryâs comedy of manners takes a wry look at the American ultra-rich: combining wit, satire, and romance with a heroine who entrances and exasperates at the flip of a coin.
This Broadway classic became one of the great movies of Hollywoodâs golden age and is sure to please the entire family. The Philadelphia Story is under the direction of Jane Farnol of Kent and Joe Russo of New Milford.
The auditions for all actors over age 20 will be held at TheatreWorks on Monday and Tuesday, September 24-25, from 7 to 9 pm. Auditions for the role of Dinah Lord â girls ages 10 to 15 â will be held separately at TheatreWorks on Monday, September 24, from 5 to 6 pm.
All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. The audition will consist of readings from the script. Character breakdowns and directions to the theatre are posted at TheatreWorks.us. TheatreWorks offers a stipend to all performers, technicians, and directors.
Rehearsals will begin in October (usually Monday through Thursday evenings), with performances running from November 30 through December 31 on Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinees.
TheatreWorks New Milford is an award-winning, non-Equity theatre company located at 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS).
